College Admissions Is More Than Grades and Test Scores

Undergraduate Admissions Services

Strong grades matter, but they are only one part of the application.

Colleges consider academic rigor, extracurricular involvement, intellectual interests, leadership, personal experiences, essays, recommendations, and the choices a student has made throughout high school.

Our role is to help students understand how these pieces fit together.

We don't manufacture profiles or try to turn students into someone they aren't. Instead, we help students recognize their strengths, make thoughtful decisions, and present an application that clearly communicates who they are and what they could contribute to a college community.

When Should You Start College Admissions Planning?

There is no single right time to begin. Our guidance is tailored to where each student is in high school.

9th & 10th Grade: Build the Foundation

The early years of high school are an opportunity to explore.

We help students think strategically about academic interests, course selection, extracurricular involvement, summer opportunities, and potential areas of study while allowing room for interests to develop naturally.

The objective isn't to build a résumé for college. It's to help students make purposeful choices that can eventually become the foundation of a strong application.

11th Grade: Develop the Strategy

Junior year is often when college admissions becomes much more concrete.

We assess the student's academic and extracurricular profile, discuss potential majors, develop an SAT or ACT strategy, identify areas that may need strengthening, begin researching colleges, and create a preliminary college list.

By the end of junior year, students should understand both where they may be competitive and what they want from their college experience.

12th Grade: Build the Application

Senior year is about turning years of experiences and accomplishments into a cohesive application.

We guide students through college selection, application strategy, the Common Application, activities and honors, the personal statement, supplemental essays, interview preparation when applicable, and final application review.

Our Undergraduate Admissions Consulting Service

Student Profile Assessment

We begin with a comprehensive assessment of the student's academic record, course rigor, testing, extracurricular involvement, leadership, interests, accomplishments, and goals.

This allows us to identify strengths, potential gaps, and the factors that should guide the admissions strategy.

College List & School Selection

Where a student applies can be just as important as how they apply.

We help families develop a thoughtful and balanced college list based on academic profile, intended area of study, campus preferences, geographic considerations, student goals, and admissions competitiveness.

Our objective is not simply to identify prestigious universities. It is to find colleges where the student can thrive while creating a realistic admissions strategy.

Application Strategy & Positioning

Application Strategy & Positioning

A strong application should help an admissions committee understand the person behind the transcript.

We identify the experiences, interests, accomplishments, and qualities that should come through across the application and help students present those elements consistently and authentically.

Common App Guidance

Extracurricular & Leadership Strategy

Application Strategy & Positioning

Small spaces can require significant strategy.

We guide students through the Common Application, including the activities section, honors, additional information, and other application components, helping them use the available space effectively and accurately.

College Essay Coaching

Extracurricular & Leadership Strategy

Extracurricular & Leadership Strategy

The strongest college essays don't simply repeat accomplishments that appear elsewhere in the application.

We help students identify meaningful topics and develop personal statements and supplemental essays that reveal their perspective, experiences, character, and interests.

Students receive individualized guidance from brainstorming through revision while maintaining complete ownership of their ideas and voice.

Extracurricular & Leadership Strategy

Extracurricular & Leadership Strategy

Extracurricular & Leadership Strategy

Meaningful extracurricular involvement isn't about accumulating as many activities as possible.

For students who begin working with us earlier in high school, we help them explore opportunities that reflect genuine interests, deepen existing commitments, and develop initiative, leadership, intellectual curiosity, or impact over time.

SAT & ACT Strategy

College Interview Preparation

Testing policies continue to vary among universities.

We help families think strategically about testing timelines, score goals, retesting, and whether submitting available scores makes sense within the context of the student's overall profile and target colleges.

College Interview Preparation

College Interview Preparation

For colleges that offer evaluative or alumni interviews, we help students prepare to communicate naturally and confidently about their interests, experiences, goals, and reasons for applying.

Mock interviews are followed by individualized feedback and coaching.

Final Application Review

Final Application Review

Before an application is submitted, we review it as a whole.

We look for clarity, consistency, completeness, and opportunities to strengthen how the student's story comes across across the different components of the application.
